The Packing Station saves time and legwork

If you think a packing station is only for packing, think again. The Packing Station module gives customers the benefit of a highly integrated workstation for scanning, packing, checking, weighing and quick printing of the right labels.

Despatch office tasks are quickly despatched here

Using ASSIST4 at the packing station makes it possible to bundle several work steps that were previously handled at separate stations. Lead times are shortened and the despatch office workload is lightened. The ASSIST4 Packing Station makes it possible to combine multiple tasks for completion in one place. Distances are reduced and time is saved. Once the picked goods have arrived at the packing station, the packer scans the article bar codes, checks the articles against the delivery note and packs them. A desktop or floor scale weighs the package. ASSIST4 uses the weight transmitted by the scale and the scan of the packing material to run tests: If certain articles are missing, for example, the system notices the weight discrepancy and notifies the employee. This lowers the error quota significantly. ASSIST4 can also use the recorded data to select the appropriate forwarder and calculate the freight costs. All labels and required shipping documents can be printed out right there and then.

The Packing Station module includes various versions to accommodate the needs of various industries and organizational structures. Some examples:

  • Qualified packing: If you select "qualified packing“, you’ll always be able to quickly reconstruct which articles are included in a package. Many customers cite this as a prerequisite. This also makes it easy to resend the correct goods if a shipment is lost, for example. Or it might satisfy your needs to simply record the number of packages. 
  • “Man to Goods”: In the case of large or heavy goods, it is better to have the employee go to the goods rather than having the goods taken to the packer. The data can still be easily recorded using a Web-based radio scanner for further processing by the ASSIST4 Packing Station. 
  • Hazardous goods: Companies that ship hazardous goods can print out the necessary warning labels directly at the Packing Station.

The XXL Packing Station

The software interface of the XXL Packing Station module was specially adapted to on-site working conditions. The extra large screen display makes it easier to read from a distance, and a touch screen allows direct control without a mouse or keyboard.
